SelfNeuron Terms and Conditions
- Your files are yours. We only use them to run SelfNeuron for you, never to train AI models.
- The AI that reads your files runs on infrastructure we control. Your content isn't sent to outside AI companies.
- Paid plans renew automatically. You can cancel anytime, and you have a 30-day money-back guarantee.
- The Founder's Deal is a one-time payment for Pro access for as long as SelfNeuron runs.
1Who we are and what SelfNeuron does
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and iPowersoft, Inc., a California company based in Oakland, California, that operates SelfNeuron ("iPowersoft", "we", "us").
SelfNeuron is an AI document service. You can upload files, connect Gmail, Google Drive and Google Cloud Storage, and sync folders on your computer with the Desktop Connector. You then ask questions in plain language, and SelfNeuron's private AI and specialized AI agents answer from your content, with sources. These Terms cover the SelfNeuron website, web app, Desktop Connector, API and SDK (together, the "Service").
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you're using SelfNeuron for a company, you confirm you're allowed to accept these Terms on its behalf. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
2Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to use SelfNeuron. You agree to give accurate information when you sign up and to follow the laws that apply to you.
3Your SelfNeuron account
You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email, or with your Google account. We don't store a password for you, so your email account is what protects your SelfNeuron account. Keep it secure.
You're responsible for activity on your account, including anything done with API keys you create. If you think someone else has accessed your account, contact us right away and revoke any API keys you don't recognize.
4Your content
You own your content. "Your content" means the files, emails, notes and other material you upload or connect, plus the questions you ask. We don't claim ownership of any of it.
You give us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, copy, index and process your content only as needed to provide the Service to you. That includes extracting text, creating search indexes and generating answers to your questions. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from backup copies, which are removed within 30 days.
- No training. We don't use your content to train, fine-tune or improve any AI model that serves other users.
- Our own AI. The models that read your content and generate answers run on infrastructure we control. We don't send your content to third-party AI providers for processing. If you turn on the Web source, your question is sent to Google Search to find results; your files are not.
- Private to you. Your content is visible only to your account. We don't sell it or share it for advertising.
You're responsible for making sure you have the right to upload or connect the content you add, and that doing so doesn't break any law or anyone else's rights.
How we collect, store and delete your data is explained in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms.
5Connected services
When you connect Google Drive or Gmail, you grant SelfNeuron read-only access through Google's own sign-in. We use that access only to sync and search the content you choose, and we never change or delete anything in your Google account. You can disconnect a source in SelfNeuron, or revoke access in your Google account settings, at any time.
Your use of Google services is also governed by Google's terms. Our handling of Google user data follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements, as described in our Privacy Policy.
The Desktop Connector syncs only the folders you choose on your computer. You can change or remove those folders at any time.
6Acceptable use policy
Please use SelfNeuron fairly and lawfully. You agree not to:
- upload or store content that is illegal, or that you don't have the right to use;
- try to access other people's accounts or data, or get around security or plan limits;
- disrupt, overload or reverse-engineer the Service, except where the law allows it;
- use automated tools to scrape the Service outside of the official API;
- resell, sublicense or share access to the Service or your API keys without our written permission;
- use the Service to build a competing product.
API and SDK terms
The SelfNeuron API and Python SDK let you upload files, search and get answers from your own scripts and apps. When you use them:
- Keep your API keys secret. Don't share them or put them in public code, and revoke any key you think is exposed.
- Activity made with your API keys counts as activity on your account, including toward your plan limits.
- We may apply rate limits, and we may revoke keys that are misused or put the Service at risk.
7Subscriptions and billing
SelfNeuron offers a free Starter plan and paid plans, as described on our Pricing page. Payments are processed by Stripe, and we never see or store your full card number. Prices exclude any applicable taxes.
- Automatic renewal. Monthly and annual Pro plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period, at the price shown when you subscribed, until you cancel.
- Renewal reminder. For annual plans, we'll email you a reminder at least 7 days before each renewal.
- Cancel anytime. You can cancel from your account settings. Cancelling stops future charges, and you keep paid access until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Price changes. If we change the price of a plan, we'll tell you at least 30 days before it applies to your next renewal, so you can cancel first if you choose.
- Failed payments. If a payment fails, we'll let you know. If it isn't resolved, your account may lose access until it is.
8Refunds
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on your first payment for any paid plan, including Pro (monthly or annual) and the Founder's Deal. Email us within 30 days of that payment and we'll refund it in full, no questions asked.
After 30 days, payments aren't refundable. Cancelling stops future charges, and we don't give partial refunds for unused time, except where the law requires it.
9The Founder's Deal
The Founder's Deal is a limited, one-time payment that gives you access to SelfNeuron Pro for as long as we operate the Service.
- "Lifetime" means the life of the Service, not the life of the buyer.
- It includes all Pro features, including future ones as we add them. Your Founder's Deal limits will never be lower than the Pro limits on the day you bought it. If Pro limits go up, yours do too.
- It's for one person's account and can't be transferred, shared or resold.
- You'll never be charged again for Founder's Deal access.
- If we ever shut SelfNeuron down, we'll give you at least 90 days' notice and a way to export all of your content.
Sections 6 and 16 still apply. A Founder's Deal account that breaks these Terms can be suspended or closed like any other.
10Plan limits
Each plan includes limits on things like connected sources, AI questions per month and storage. The current limits are shown on our Pricing page. If you reach a limit, some features may pause until your limit resets or you upgrade. Extra storage and queries can't be bought separately.
We may adjust plan limits. If a change reduces what your paid plan includes, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice. Founder's Deal limits are protected as described in section 9 and won't be reduced.
11How AI answers work
SelfNeuron's answers are generated by its private AI and specialized AI agents, using only your content and, if you choose the Web source, Google Search results. AI can make mistakes, miss information, or misread a document. Each answer shows the sources it came from so you can check it. Verify anything important before you rely on it, especially legal, financial, medical or safety decisions. Answers aren't professional advice.
12Our intellectual property
The Service itself, including our software, design, models, documentation, logos and the SelfNeuron name, belongs to iPowersoft or its licensors and is protected by law. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the Service under these Terms. This section doesn't cover your content, which stays yours as set out in section 4.
13Feedback
We love hearing ideas. If you send us suggestions or feedback, we may use them to improve SelfNeuron without owing you anything, and without using your content.
14Disclaimers
To the extent the law allows, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We don't promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free or always available, or that AI answers will be accurate or complete. We disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Keep your own copies of important files. SelfNeuron is a search and answer tool, not a backup service.
15Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, iPowersoft won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or business opportunities, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) US $100. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
16Termination and your data
You can leave anytime. Delete your account from your profile settings. Deletion is permanent, and your content is removed as described in our Privacy Policy.
If we need to close an account. Where possible, we'll give you notice and at least 30 days to export your content before closing your account. We may suspend or close an account immediately, without that notice, if it's used for illegal activity, puts other users or the Service at risk, or seriously or repeatedly breaks these Terms.
Sections 4, 12, 13, 14, 15, 18, 20 and 21 continue to apply after your account ends.
17Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as SelfNeuron grows. For material changes, we'll email you or show a notice in the app at least 30 days before they take effect. If you keep using the Service after that, the new Terms apply. If you don't agree, you can cancel before they take effect.
18Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Alameda County, California, and you and we agree to that jurisdiction. Nothing here limits any rights you have under consumer protection laws where you live.
19Copyright complaints
We respect intellectual property rights and respond to valid notices under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). If you believe content stored through SelfNeuron infringes your copyright, email selfneuron@ipowersoft.com with the subject "Copyright notice" and include:
- your name, address, phone number and email;
- a description of the copyrighted work you say is infringed;
- enough information for us to locate the material;
- a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized by the owner, its agent or the law;
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner;
- your physical or electronic signature.
We may remove or disable access to the material and notify the account holder, who may send a counter-notice. We may close the accounts of repeat infringers.
20Indemnification
To the extent the law allows, you agree to defend and compensate iPowersoft for claims, losses and reasonable legal costs brought by someone else that arise from content you upload or connect, or from your breach of these Terms or of the law. This doesn't apply to the extent a claim is caused by our own fault.
21General terms
- Entire agreement. These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
- Severability. If a court finds any part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
- No waiver. If we don't enforce a part of these Terms right away, we can still enforce it later.
- Assignment. You can't transfer your rights under these Terms without our written permission. We may transfer ours as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, and we'll tell you if that happens.
